The 2JZ-GTE was over-engineered from the factory - cast iron block, forged bottom end, a bottom-end tolerance that Toyota built for motorsport and never really needed for the street cars. Builders figured this out quickly. The 2JZ became the platform that goes to 600hp on stock internals, 1,000hp with a single turbo conversion, and numbers above that with proper preparation.
