The 13B-REW has a heartbeat that no piston engine can replicate. Twin sequential turbos, two rotors spinning through their apex seal dance, and a high-rev scream that immediately identifies itself to anyone who has heard one before. Mazda put this engine in the FD3S, kept the car under 1,300kg, and produced one of the most driver-focused sports cars Japan ever built.
