What Are Accounts? (Accounts vs Dealers vs Consumers)

Understand brand-owned Accounts in Ordrly—and how they differ from Dealers and DTC consumers—so reps can sell with certainty even when a retailer never joins the marketplace.

Overview

Accounts are brand-owned wholesale buyers in your sales book: stores you sell to in the showroom, by phone, or from an SFA export. They do not need an Ordrly Connection to receive an order.

Use Accounts when you need to place a PO now and stay confident the order is correct—without waiting for the retailer to join Ordrly.

Accounts ≠ Dealers ≠ Consumers

Concept What it is Ordrly Connection required?
Account Your SFA / sales-book buyer No
Dealer A retailer location on an approved marketplace Connection Yes
Consumer A DTC end buyer (for example a Shopify retail customer) N/A

Tip: Linking an Account to a Dealer is optional. Do it when you want cleaner payment history and continuity; it is not required to sell.

When to use Accounts

  • The buyer is not on Ordrly yet (and may never be).
  • A rep is writing an order in person or over the phone.
  • You imported buyers from CRM / SFA / ERP and need them available for order entry.
  • You want dealer-type pricing on those buyers without forcing a Connection first.

Where to find them

In the Brand panel, open Accounts (Dealer Management / sales book). From there you can create Accounts, import CSV, assign reps, and optionally link a Dealer.
